Last night Hubby and I went to a KPRI Private Listener Concert. I desperately needed an outing and we always like hearing new bands. It was even on a harbor cruise ship. Hard to go wrong there.
So, last night we heard The Wild Feathers – a band from Nashville, Tennessee – described on their Facebook page as: “They’re like if Led Zeppelin & The Band had a baby in Joshua Tree that grew up listening to Ryan Adams covering the Stones 70’s country influenced songs.”
Quite awesome, I gotta say. Rockabilly bluesy good-timesy with a dark edge to their lyrics.
I loved their energy and the way all five guys were all part of every song – playing instruments, singing incredible harmonies, and just all around looking like they were exactly where they wanted to be.
Listening to music is good for writing – the rhythm of it, clever lyrics, emotion distilled, focused moments – but last night was exactly what I needed… just because it wasn’t writing.
