Across the ocean in Japan people have had their lives literally shaken and broken.
And now here in San Diego we’re having a tsunami advisory. At the school where I work two fieldtrips to different locations near the ocean were scheduled for today. One is cancelled, the other is not. Parents are disappointed with both decisions. Some parents aren’t even sending their kids to school today.
Obviously we all want to keep our children safe, but… are the dangers we anticipate worse than the ones that surprise us? It seems to me the worst things have a way of sneaking up on us.
But the best things do too.
Today I’m thinking of a story I had the privilege to read. The author is a friend of mine – her story is still looking for its home. But this story is about these kind of shake ups – the ones that the whole world sees and smaller ones that shake only a few lives. But either kind changes everything. And we are all connected.
From Japan to San Diego – ripples.
