Inspiration is a mysterious thing. What I mean here is the starting point. How a story begins. Sometimes it’s a character and his/her voice. Other times it’s a situation and thinking about how someone might respond. Or a relationship. It might start with an image. A setting. And then the mind starts to wander.
Soon after, Inspiration’s cousin, Insight, has to kick in and start making sense within the white hot mess of creation.
And then the story might start again. And again. And again. And then it could become hard to pinpoint the exact moment of inspiration.
Which is where I am with my new thing.
(One) of my current Inspirations or Insights has to do with maps. Which is one reason I love this music video that a friend sent me. It’s a story, but there are plenty of holes. Plenty of room for you to make it your own. Be Inspired!

WRITING ON THE SIDEWALK
You are in the magic place. Between inspiration and insight is the chaos where the magic stirs, boils, condenses, and becomes. With most of my creativity and writing clients—almost all—getting them to realize this is the key to unlocking whatever has them stuck. This is the point where people give up, walk away, decide it’s not the right path. Thanks for letting them know to stick with it, to believe, to learn to be comfortable with the chaos. It’s the only way.
You have NO idea how much I needed to hear this. Thank you. Now to find that key…
That’s quite a video, Sarah! Thanks for sharing. I hope insight is meshing well with inspiration.
