When I found out that my book Grandma’s Pear Tree had been converted into an App for the iPhone and iPad, I immediately had to check it out. My husband and I went to the Apps Store to download the free version.
The App includes the following features:
- A match game
- Karaoke like text scroll (highlights red as you read)
- Page indexing to access your favorite parts
- Bookmarking to pick up where you left off
- Read at your own pace without audio and scroll text
- Music accompanies the story
I was thrilled to see my story come alive and the music was a great touch. I may need to hire my son to play guitar when I read my story to add a fun dimension. I felt the same excitement seeing my book on the phone as I did the first time I saw it in print. Listening to the story being read I quickly became absorbed in the experience and for just a brief moment I forgot that this was my story and I wondered what was going to happen next.
There has been much talk lately about the direction that books will be taking in the future and it was fun to see what that future could be like and my husband had a great time playing the match game.
