I ran across this fun picture book at our local bookstore the other day and was completely enchanted. On My Way to the Bath by Sarah Maizes and Illustrated by Michael Paraskevas is a fun, delightful, tale. I remember well the days when my boys were younger that bath time was a battle and the path to the bathtub a long meandering trail.
Here is a synopsis:
The way to the bath is a long journey fraught with obstacles only a young child could imagine. On her way to bath she must battle a snake, rule the world, and climb a mountain all while her mother waits with the bubbles ready. With delay tactics as imaginative as this, it’s a wonder this feisty little girl ever makes it all the way to the bath.
Book Thoughts:
- The author has created an endearing character, with a big imagination.
- The illustrations by Michael Paraskevas (known for his work with Maggie and the Ferocious Beast) are bright and colorful and add a fun, whimsical quality to the story.
- This would be a great story at bedtime for parents and children to share at the end of the day.
This is a truly fun and charming book.

I came across your review and was so ticked you enjoyed it! Thanks SO MUCH for the great review!!!! – Sarah Maizes
Loved the book! Thanks for stopping by the blog.
Haha! Cute book cover! I chuckled as I read your post remembing bathtime for our boys, now in their 30s. And those bathtub rings after a hard day of playing outdoors! It’s a good thing I was a young mom and could get on my knees back then and scrub-a-dub-dub the tub. LOL! Thanks for the grins and giggles!
Little boy bathtub rings are the worst. I’m sure they dip their bodies in a super secret coating that attaches to the tub.
thanks so much… what a nice review…
This sounds like so much fun!
