I was trying to write the other day, but it just wasn’t working. The words were flat, the story was flat and my bottom was flat from sitting in the chair. One of the ways I try to spark my creativity is doing a crafty project. The process of working with my hands is a great way to get my creative juices flowing and put more spark in my writing.
So what project to do?
My youngest niece had recently outgrown her favorite mini skirt. Being her favorite, she wore that skirt as long as she possibly could. We finally had to buy her one in a larger size to replace it.
I decided to immortalize the favorite skirt, so I turned it into a purse. I lined it with a pinky/ purple material (her two favorite colors) here’s how it turned out:
The purse was a huge success and now I am eyeing her favorite jeans, I think I see a book bag in there somewhere.
Oh and by the way, I finished the chapter and it was better than before.
Happy Friday,

Clever! I love the purse! And I bet your niece is going to love it, too. What a great way to ‘immortalize’ something. And too funny that you see a book bag in her pair of jeans.
I had a similar experience the other day… but mine didn’t turn out as cool as your craft project. Been working on final edits of my MG and my neck was hurting. So, I needed a craft break….
I dove into the decoupage project I have been procrastinating about (two hours before leaving for my niece’s HS graduation). Anyhow, let’s just say I ended up with Mod Podge gooey glue all over me! Guess I was a little too ambitioust. And my neck ended up hurting more. LOL!
But I agree… it’s good to take a break from the writing every now and then and do something else that is creative.
BTW…. I work at JoAnn’s Fabrics, so I am surrounded by crafty people all day long.
Can hardly wait to see the book bag!
My blogging buddy Sarah is the master of decoupage. I don’t know if she has Mod Podge issues but I know she does wonderful work.
Hope the neck feels better soon. I have been using a tube sock filled with rice and tied at the top for some pain relief lately. Microwave it for about a minute and then place it on the sore area. The sock forms around the sore area and stays warm for a while.
Good luck with the WIP, and happy editing.

Fun stuff, Sue. Now my daughter wants one! I’m sure I’ll find some time to procrastinate soon to make her bag
Dana,
Procrastinating is always fun when you have a project to work on, especially when it’s for someone you love.
