This is a little belated Mother’s Day salute to my Mom and her sisters. I have had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with them in the past few months and I have found the experience to be touching and highly entertaining. I know now why my Mom has the saying “When wine goes in, secrets come out” painted on the wall of her kitchen, it was done in honor of her and her sisters.
It only took one glass of wine for them to begin sharing old stories of relatives from the past. The second glass led to beauty tips and advice. The third glass was a free for all, the laughing and giggling, beauty tips and family secrets (which will remain so) arguments on how the middle sister suddenly claimed to be younger than the youngest sister, caused me to nick-name them the “Gabor Sisters.”
These ladies have seen their share of joys and sorrows but they stick together and work things out, and when times get tough it is nice to see that your family sticks together.
So Happy Belated Mother’s Day ladies, I love you dearly.
This is a picture of the real Gabor Sisters, note the question mark made of candles on the cake.
