Check out the upcoming School Library Journal’s Battle of the Books!
School Library Journal’s Battle of the (Kids’) Books is a competition between 16 of the very best books for young people published in 2009, judged by some of the biggest names in children’s books.
I happened upon last year’s battle and found it a terrific source of book suggestions as well as wildly entertaining to read the judge’s explanations as they picked the winner of each battle. It’s pretty amazing to peek inside the brains of geniuses in the field of children’s literature.
This year there is an interactive component: You can help bring back a book from the “dead.” You vote now for your favorite – and if it is eliminated later it has a chance to return for the final round. Vote now!
